Colorado Ski Resorts and Vacations
Colorado has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to incredible skiing and ski resorts. Below are just three ideas for your Colorado ski vacation.
Aspen Ski Vacations
Aspen Mountain has long been known as the playpen of the rich and famous – and it is. But it is also a great place to take a family ski vacation. Christmas in Aspen is especially wonderful! Aspen Mountain rises above the town of Aspen, with a top elevation of 11215 feet and a vertical drop of 3269 feet. There are 76 trails suitable for beginners, intermediates, and experts, accessible by eight lifts, including seven chair lifts and one cable car line.
While Aspen has much to offer skiers, as well as those who enjoy the night life in a ski town, you should expect lots of crowds and lift lines on the slopes. Again, this is the playpen of the rich and famous, and many people choose this ski vacation spot simply for that reason – as well as for the great runs and nightlife.
There are numerous places to stay in and around Aspen, with more than 100 restaurants to choose from as well. Ski instructions and equipment rental are abundant in the area, and snowboarders are welcome.
PEAK 8 of Breckenridge Ski Resort

Breckenridge's four peaks average vertical is 13,300 feet. Breckenridge offers some of the most extreme skiing terrain in North America. This year’s brand new Imperial Express chair lift takes you just 500-feet from the summit of peak 8. Up here, you will find lake chutes which are considered to be the most extreme skiing in Colorado. There is little room for error up here. The lake chutes are the closest you’re going to get to an Alaskan heli ski trip without the helicopter.
Don't forget about the big rocky chutes and big cornus drop which if you can ace it, will help your chances of survival. Peak 8 also includes the T bar lift which will access you to brilliant runs like Horseshoe Bowl, Debbie’s Alley, Boundary Chutes and Vertigo. Horseshoe Bowl is big and steep with big boulder drops on the skiers left and right but if you ride right down the middle I promise you smooth steep lines.
If by chance you wake up early enough, try to get that first ride up on the t-bar. Once you get up here, ride the horseshoe bowl for the steepest powder field in Colorado. The best part about this is that you won't have to deal with a painful hike.
Debbie’s Alley brings chills down my spine and the amount of small rock drops is pure fun. The bottom of this run offers beautiful gladed trees with small drops too. These are the most extreme runs on peak eight consisting mostly of double black diamond.
Peak 8 also includes beautifully groomed blue and green runs like Springer, Parklane, Power Line, and North Star. If your skills are there you might want to give North Star a try. Its tight lines make it a real challenge. This run has a natural half-pipe with plenty of trees on the skiers left and right side. Don't slack on this run and always beware of the bumps, because they are sprinkled everywhere.
Springer, Parklane and Power Line are smooth groomers which you can pick up a lot of speed so watch your lines. The last thing you need to happen on your vacation is to take out a family on a groomer. So always ride in control.

Keystone Night Skiing

Keystone offers the finest night skiing in Colorado with lights on 15 different slopes and a great terrain park. Night skiing starts at 4pm and ends at 10pm.
All of the night skiing at Keystone is on the front face of the mountain featuring great runs like the Spring Dipper. The Keystone Gondola will service most of the night skiing.
The spring dipper is a great long fast groomer with great high speed turns which makes the spring dipper a night skiing favorite. The Frenchman is a great groomer which you can carve the most perfect turns, with ease and the big rollers will allow you to take flight if you want this. Always remember to give the right away to slower skiers and always ride in complete control. Your life and others are all always at risk when alpine skiing, so please be careful.
The Keystone terrain park offers many different types of rails, boxes and jumps. Some of the ski jumps are huge, so be careful and be sure to go big! If you fall short of the downhill, you'll regret it. You can spend hours of time jumping and riding the rails in the Keystone terrain park, but please don't forget about the rest of the mountain, I promise there are other super fun ski runs for you to enjoy.
