Snowmobiling in Michigan



With an average of over 200 inches of annual snowfall for a typical winter season, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan has always been a long-time favorite destination for snowmobilers. With the guaranteed cold weather and large amount of annual snowfall, winter vacationers are sure to find the snowmobiling conditions ideal. In fact, snowmobiling happens to be one of the most popular winter sports in the Upper Peninsula. Here are some favorite Upper Peninsula destinations:

Munising, Michigan - the Munising area is known as the "Snowmobile Capital of the World", with hundreds of miles of groomed trails. Snowmobile Trail Permits

Just FYI, anyone who wishes to operate a snowmobile in Michigan needs to purchase a snowmobile trail permit sticker, which is $25. The snowmobile trail permit sticker is valid for 1 year which begins October 1 and ends September 30 of the following year. There are certain exceptions, but, just to be safe, get your trail permit ahead of time. You can get one by going to:
